B&M Standups, no more

I heard that B&M has asked parks not to buy standup coasters anymore. Also, if ya notice, they aren't "the thing" anymore.

Why not?

To bad they were getting pretty good at building those.

Cool, now MM has 5 coasters that aren't being made anymore. Flashback(Intamin Space Diver), Viper(Arrow Mega-Looper), Ninja(Arrow-Huss First Generation Suspended), Superman(Intamin Reverse Freefall Coaster), Riddler(B&M Stand-Up). Aren't they special.

WHAT!!! No stand-ups, that's TERRIBLE, I love stand-ups, and I was really counting on one for SFA!

And where did you hear this from?

I didn't say that, I said that I noticed that B&M is no longer building them. Then, I heard B&M was ASKING parks not to buy them as their first choice.
Also, why aren't S:TE'S(Reverser coasters) and Arrow megaloopers not being made anymore

Do you mean Superman: The Escape? They built one in Austrailia. Arrow Mega Loopers aren't made anymore because B&Ms are more smooth and can do more. But there is no reason for stand-ups not to be made. Records can still be broken......

That can't be true. Stand ups are defently better than regular sit down coasters. I mean there is no were to hide on a standup and in a sitdown you get less of a hostile feeling.

i think the B&M stand ups are great...well except for the seating on them...they are really uncomfortable...but other than that they are really good with all the elements that the track have(lare loops, divingloops, oblique loops, corscrews,ect.) all go well with the coaster...i have only been on one stand up in my life, and that was Riddlers Revenge and SFMM, that was a very good and smooth ride.

I don't know why B&M would not recommend their stand-ups. Riddler is the smoothest coaster at SFMM right behind Goliath. And when I rode Mantis back in 1998 it wasn't bad at all. It's just very intense so people mistake intensity for roughness.

They better keep building em come casue Sea World San Diego sure could use one. Ummm, coasters at Sea World..... Shamu the ride. B&M's largest Stand-Up coaster comes to San Diego. Ahh, now I'm just dreamin.

I had also read on one of the coaster web sites (I don’t think it was this one) that B&M is trying to encourage parks to build the floorless coaster instead of the standup. The standups are fairly uncomfortable (IMO) and don’t offer an experience drastically different then a floorless.

I like stand ups, but the only B&M coasters I have ever been on are stand up and inverted, and they were both great fun, aside from the mild discomfort on the stand up. The floorless coasters look like a blast, and I would like to see more of these things. The bad part about the stand up coasters is that they're not very well enngineered for short people, because being only 5'3 myself, the harnesses are hard to get into and out of. Shure I'll get taller, im still young yet, but what will I do for the mean time? Huh.

The stand up coasters are also kind of a hassle for men in general, because once you undo the belt after your harneses are opened, the seats have a tendency to shoot up very quickly, and the bicycle seat type seats can hurt (I learned this the hard way when riding Mantis for the first time, and I had to sit down for a while before riding any thing else. Now I am MUCH more cautious.). Any way, those bad aspects are combated by the large varity of loops and elements, and the great fun it is to ride one of these things. I would hate to see the design die out, but hey, knowing B&M, they're gonna come up with somthing just as cool, or cooler in the near future.
