Stand Alone non-superlative single tracked woodies

I was sitting here thinking (I know dangerous right ;)). Anyway, when was the last time a major park added a wooden coaster as there only captial improvement that year. Wherein the woodie was not the "longest, fastest, etc", and non-gimmicky (no racing/dueling, no loops, etc.).

I'm thinking it was like either Viper, Georgia Cyclone, Psyclone, or the Hurler coasters. Anybody got a better idea than that?

Good question.  Boulder Dash came to mind, but isn't that billed as the "biggest wooden coaster in the northwest" or something like that?

What about any of the CCI coasters?  None of them break records or offer gimmicks, but all tend to hold their own against bigger rides (in most peoples opinions).

I know of one. Cornball Express. Coastercraver is right, all of the CCIs in the world (well, most, a few are dueling.) and basically all but one (of the few) GCIs.

Yeah, I thought of the CCI coasters, but are any of those named (BD, The Legend, Cornball) at what you would consider major parks? It just seems to me that the large coporations have given up on trying to bill a medium sized woodie as a sole new attraction.

On second thought, GhostRider might fit what I asked..

I don’t think even Ghostrider would fit your criteria.  Cedar Fair didn’t own Knott’s when the ride was purchased.  If you consider ‘major parks’ to mean SF, CF, or Busch, then you are right about big chains ignoring medium sized woodies.   It's hard to market a smaller coaster to the GP.
