3rd drop on Phantom's Revenge
I just sent this in to the News section, but I figured just in case I'll make some noise here.
I, along with every other ACE member, just received an email about Phantoms Revenge from Western PA regional reps Dave and Maggie.
Here's what we have to drool over.

At a press conference this afternoon at the Kennyville stage area, Kennywood announced it's plans for the Steel Phantom's replacement for the 2001 season. The Steel Phantom will morph into the "Phantom's Revenge" over the winter, similar to the transformation of the Pippin into the Thunderbolt thirty-some years ago.
The station, lift hill, transfer track and final brake run will be retained as will the superstructure for the first and second drops. The bottom of the second drop will be lowered five feet to increase the drop to 230 feet. The radius of the curve at the bottom of the second drop will be increased and banked at an 82 degree angle. Speed will be increased to approximately 85 mph.
The inversions will be eliminated and the track will climb out of the valley toward the Exterminator building. The track will then plunge back down into the ravine and enter an approximately 230 feet long tunnel near the Thunderbolt and Raging Rapids. After exiting the tunnel the track will climb over the Tumble Bug (Turtle) and head back to the station.
Morgan manufacturing has been selected to replace the majority of the original Arrow track. A camelback will be added between the first drop and the second hill. The track length is expected to increase about 6 percent.
The Arrow train chassis will be retained with new fiberglass bodies built by Morgan. Kennywood intends to replace the shoulder harnesses with lap bars if technically feasible.
No track schematic was shown since the layout has yet to be finalized.

Still sounds like misinformation to me. The problem is, and always has been Arrow track and trains, namely the fact that they don't do turns well at all. First off, they use trains that were essentially designed to do 80-foot corkscrew coasters, not 200-foot drops. The constant shuffling through turns is the result of extremely loose track tolerance, and that's bad for the riders, the track and the trains. It's the stone age of coaster technology; Why in God's name would you continue to use it?
I have a real hard time believing that anything other than the list support structure and station will be reused. If it is, they're right back where they started.

I also personally don't buy the "layout has yet to be finalized". It's already August, and the design isn't final? Hmmm...

All that extra area of track and only 6% increase of length? Isn't the Phantom 3000 ft long now? That's only an extra 180 feet of track. If thats the case I imangine the camel hump would take at least half of that 180ft. Who know? We should start a Phantom's Revenge Rumor thread.

Well arent we all skeptical. I dont really find anything that doesnt make sense.
Altough worded strangely in the message, Morgan may be only using some very basic chasis components of the trains, and re-design the wheel section.
Coasterpunk, the track length is confirmed to be around 200 feet more track. The camelback is taking place of where the straitaway used to be, and should only add 40-50 feet of track, unless they make it more of a hill then a camelback.
Although much of this sounds very strange, (Reusing the brake run?) I dont think it's misinformation. We'll see if this pulls through, but I'm putting money on it.
