Does high tempertures an humidity have an efect on

Tuesday the 7 at kings island the beast vortex and the racer had breakbowns riders had to be walked down from racer and Beast.

I heard that on hot days that Raging Bull slows down because the wheels get so hot that they "stick" to the track, which slows down the train.

I was told just yesterday by a V2 ride op that it takes a toll on the rides. And I know V2 shut down at least twice during the day. It was probably the mid-90s; about a 105 heat index.

I know that they close Superman: The Escape a few times during the day when it gets hot.

I've noticed that rough rides actually feel smoother in humid conditions, for example: Shockwave was really smooth and enjoyable on a humid day.

Wooden coasters constantly change with the weather. Some are better in hot weather and some worse. Steel coasters also change, but less so.

Everything tends to bet less reliable when the heat is on, especially electrical and electronic components. Linear induction motors are especially likely to have problems in the heat.

On the final break run on Titan, there is water shooting the underside of the train to cool the wheels.

also on hot days OTSR get softer..heck I can even ride serial thriller with out a headache !

Hot and humid, makes my Swamp Fox roll insane! But, it could turn so hot it may have thoe negative effect.

Temperature and humidity have a HUGE effect on how a rollercoaster runs. The usuall affect of temperature is speed variation. Most coasters use a mid point brake run to adjust the speed to that of "NORMAL" operation. But if it is slower than normal, it stays slower. Rides that rely on hydraulics(suspendeds) cannot operate if too cold outside. Some rides close during rainy weather, and most all of the tall steel rides will shut down if lightening is spotted. Wind will also affect coasters, and high rides will be halted during high winds. The weather effect is what makes a ride one day seem slightly differnt than another day.
