Thanks to its status as also being a vacation destination, Cedar Point has one of the broadest ranges of dining options. I agree with others who have already posted in saying that sitdown meals will be a much better value while at the same time providing a reprieve from the hot concrete. In addition to Midway market and Silver Doller, I also recommend Macaroni's. It's a great place to take the family for a mid-range sitdown meal. They offer a full adults' and children's menu serving Italian dishes including pizza, pasta, and other hot subs and sandwiches. Macaroni's is located across from Peanut's Playground. (No alcohol here.)
If you don't mind leaving the the park for a bit, other good restaurants are also located on the peninsula in the marina and resorts areas.
The Bay Harbor Inn is nautically themed fine dining at its best. Seafood, Steak, and others including vegetarian dishes are prepared professionally. Be prepared to pay $20-35 for an entree, but the atmosphere and food is well worth it. (They also serve alcohol.) Nearby is also the Boat House, which is also a upper midrange sitdown that boasts good ribs. I don't frequent it as often, so I can't give you an honest opinion of the food there lately.
My other picks for good dining are TGIF on the beach at Breaker's Hotel and Dominick's located in Breaker's Lobby.
TGIF has a bar area that is open until 2:30am; alcohol is also served to tables. With TGIF, you know what you're getting, although you'll see an abridged form of the typical dictionary style menu that is typically seen. The restaurant is popular so make sure you get there before 4:30 or after 7:00 to avoid waits.
This year, Dominicks's revamped their menu to include a fully authentic Italian lineup. Price range is upper middle, and they serve alcohol. There are usually no waits, and the food is very nicely prepared.
In addition, Sandcastle Suites at the tip of the peninsula has the Breakwater Cafe. The food consists of sandwiches and standard entrees and is generally good. The view is nice, I don't remember if they serve alcohol, but it's usually too far to walk if you're not staying at Sandcastle.
Things to stay away from: From past experience, I try to stay away from eating burgers at the Point, especially when riding coasters. I find them typically to be underdone and can cause a stomach ache even when not riding. Watch what you eat at buffet style places as some things tend to sit for long periods. I have also never been a fan of the Coffee Shop, located in the Breakers Lobby. They used to have full service for breakfast and lunch, but this year, they reverted to counter style service for lunch, only buffet for breakfast, and sub-par lunch.
Hope this helps.
