six flags gadv news on viper

well people that enjoyed viper when it was calm, will be seeing the first heartline coaster come to a end in september when they knock it down. now they can fit another coaster in its spot rumors say a impulse but who knows? anyone have ideas?

Sad to see it go. Outside of Windjammer (which I didn't hate THAT much), I like to see coasters stick around. In regards to what may come in?

I never ridden Viper but any time a coaster gets the ax it's a sad day. Just a thought about the supposed impulse coaster: maybe it'll be a clone of Superman:The Ultimate Escape. Very cool ride

I wish they could donate or sell these coasters cheaply to a small park. It would work both ways. I have heard often that the Viper was really expensive to maintain, so maybe a smaller park couldn't afford the maintenance. Was Windjammer just as expensive to maintain? Its sad to seen any coaster go(Good or Bad.)

I always enjoyed Viper.

It's not open now then, right? I'm going in a week and I would have really liked to have ridden it.

Coaster Fantom..

Windjammer was never open due to its inability to operate in the lowest of wind conditions (5 MPH). When it was open, it was VERY rough, and pretty lame to boot. I still would like to see it go to another park. Perhaps Silverwood could have purchased it like they did the original Corkscrew. Alas, it is going to another country.

Viper is VERY intense though. The first drop is VERY steep and sudden. the only rough part is traveling around a sharp corner at 50. If it is open make sure you press your head back HARD angainst the headrest. I never found it to be a headbanger. Short but sweet.

I'll be sad to see it go I liked the ride it was a unique ride. Short, sweet and fast!!!

Its not that its a head bannger, its just that those stupid restraints get tighter and tighter on your shoulders which really make the ride painful. Their is only like 1 or 2 spots of true head banging. Im gonna miss the first drop and the second inversion.

DMB17 that is really weird because I've always thought that Viper had the best OS restraints. I guess it may depend on your body size. I'm short and I experience 'ear-banging' with many of the OSR's but, never on Viper. *** This post was edited by jgfama on 8/5/2001. ***

i hope it stays. i like VIPER alot, its really fun. they should just fix that last turn if they can. thats where all the head banging happens.

When I went to SFgav First Week in July it was still closed and dormant looking. No testing or anything. Like it was just sitting there to rot.That's almost always a bad sign. Looks like another Drachen Fire maybe

I hate to say it, but THANK GOD!!! That first drop is cool, but after that, it was a fight to stay alive. I couldn't believe how bad it was (while looking good, actually). I hope they put something worthy in it's place.

The first drop was pretty good but the restraints really ruined the ride. It was worse then headbanging.

I always liked the theming around it though. Hopefully they'll be able to incorporate some of that into a new ride.

I think its a shame Viper is not running i love that ride but only rode it once in October of last year. I thought the ride is painless and want to ride it again. The first inversion is awesome. I heard that Alcatraz the Ride will go there but i think Viper will stay because they were weilding on it to smooth it out and the trains are also gone and i heard they are getting new train that are more comfortable. An impulse would be better but i will miss Viper and its cool theming.

If they put an impulse in its place it should be named viper cause superman won't go with the theming.Viper looked like a really nice ride when I went but it was closed unfortunetly.
