500 Ft tall coasters possible

Do you think that Intimin or any other coaster company will attempt to build a 500 foot tall coaster in the next two years. What would the catagorey of extremely high roller coasters be called.

I think it could happen, but first lets wait and find out.

Millennium Force: The Future's Riding On It

Now way man, a 500 Ft coaster in the next 2 years is WAY TO SOON! It would at least be 6-7 years for a 500 Ft coaster, if it's possible to build one.

That arrow fish hook thing that was rumored for the stratosphere was some where in the 700 foot area. What would that be called?

Well, for one thing, the park would need to have enough MONEY to build it! Millenium Force cost $22 million...a 500 footer would probably cost about $40 million or more! SFGAdv spent $42 million on 25 new rides in '99 and another $40 million on a WHOLE NEW waterpark in '00. For just one ride, it is an insane price to pay. But, if it's an excellent coaster and designed by Intamin, then it would pa for itself in the first year of operation. Look at what Nitro did to SFGAdv! Record attendance all year! It has a full parking lot in the middle of the week and even more so in the weekends! It's all about how muh the park is willing to spend.

How fast would that be, seems like speed would be the most daunting aspect. A 200 MPH coaster? Seems liek it would tear itself to pieces.

i don't know if i'd like the idea of that. Now and Intamin Giant Drop of those specifications...hmmm...

Oh, one more thing. Millennium Force was actually 26 Million. 22 is close. but CP advertises it at 26.

with the jump from 250 to 318 is pretty big. If that happened every year, it could happen. I think we will see 400 soon though.

There's no reason to go that big if there is a terminal velocity to rollercoasters.

wouldn't 500' be a pentacoaster? and 600' be a sextacoaster? if we're going by names of polygons. if you're going by series of movies then it would be quintcoaster(a quintology, View Askew) and still sextacoaster(a sextology, Star Wars). anyway, that's my two cents.

If I remember correctly, Steel Dragon 2000 cost about 5.5 billion yen or about $44 million to build.

Steel Dragon cost so much because of earthquakes in Japan, the technology on Force is much more advanced so tahst not a possibility. Elevator Lift, Magnetic Brakes, etc etc

I beleive Steel Dragon cost $51 Million to build! Thats just plain crazy! lol

The cat walk on the side of the track stretche the whole way which would really add up the cost. Also it is the worlds longest steel coaster so that too would add up to the cost.

Anyone know what a ticket to Spaland costs?
Must be outrageous if they build a 51 million doallr coaster.

Plus SD2K has two 200ft+ hills after its first 318ft hill - 252ft & 210ft. That is a Giga & two Hypers in one! :) (Another reason why it's so expensive.)
