BrandonR, I'm not saying they need it. I'm just pointing out to others that lap bars can be sufficient to hold you in a ride.

All coasters need lap bars. Why did they put OTSRs on Revolution?

I think that SLC's and alot of other rides would be so much better with the Vekoma nylon vest. It gives you alot of freedom, no headbanging, and the fact that all you have to hold on to is two little straps!

the only coasters that need lap bars are arrows premiers and vekoma boomerangs

Revolution has OTSRs because in California you need them for inversions. It's a law.

Cause california suXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. Just kidding but they do lawwise, and I am not just talking about coasters here.

I hate OTSR but SOME coasters may be better off with them. People keep saying your head doesn't bang on B&M's. Well, only if you keep your head in place which is very uncomfortable and gives me a headache. If I don't hold my head perfectly it will bang a little. And it just sucks because you can't see as well, and to me detracts from the fun. But on some rides I think they are needed and I won't complain. Like anything going vertical especially backwards.

Who notes that until recently, California had no laws pertaining to amusement PARK rides, and who has seen no such information in the statutes he's read...

Sigh.

How many times is this Revolution issue going to come up? Plain and simply, it was a PARK DECISION to add the OTSR to the ride. The park made the decision based on skyrocketing insurance costs to run the ride with lap bars, and the fact that people were leaning out of the car instead of keeping their heads against the headrests, then reporting whiplash.

THERE IS NO LAW PERTAINING TO INVERSIONS AND RESTRAINTS IN CALIFORNIA!!!
If there were, you would see the same thing on Montezuma's Revenge. The restraints were initially placed to stop whiplash complaints through the loop. This was due to people not reading safety warnings that are posted in the station and right before the loop. Another example of ignorant riders ruining a great coaster.
