Blue Streak Challenge a Success!

The Blue Streak Challenge was held Monday, July 30th at Conneaut Lake Park. Eight hardy souls marathoned on this coaster for 12 hours for a total of 192 rides, raising almost $3,500! It was an amazing experience!

We have Challenge t-shirts and buttons for sale in CLP's gift shop. They are limited quantity and all proceeds go to the Blue Streak fund. Get there and buy one or both and help the Blue streak!

That's great news! For those of you who have never been to Conneaut Lake, Blue Streak is a wonderful Ed Vettel-designed coaster, complete with NAD trains! If you're in the area, stop by and you'll see that Conneaut Lake Park has a lot more to do than you think.

Once again, I'm happy that this was a success, and I hope that there will be continued support for this wonderful park and coaster!

Monday and Tuesday? Hmm. I knew about Monday, but not about Tuesday. Thanks, Dan. (And hey... what's with the Griswald signature? Going to SFMM soon?)

It's good to hear the Challenge was a success. I plan on going to Conneaut sometime this year, mainly for Blue Streak and to partake of some of the ice cream I've heard so much about. Besides, I seem to enjoy smaller, family-owned parks (Kennywood, Knoebels) more than the Six Flags of the world.

Glad to hear it worked out so well. This is a park that is on my "to do soon" list. I'm placing priority on small traditional parks. I have had a really good time at the ones I've been to.

I agree with Lynch. I prefer the smaller parks of the world over any Six Flags or other park chain.

I am glad to hear that the Blue Streak Challenge was a success. While the Blue Streak is a fun coaster, it does desperately need that $3,500 to help maintain the ride.

Once again, congratulations! Have I also heard right that the Blue Streak will be receiving a much needed paint job for next year?

Congrats! That is one coaster I would have a HARD time doing 12 hours on! It sure needs some gooc TLC.

I think the reason this coaster is so rough is because of the NAD train: It's too big for the track. That's the reason it tends to bottom out and shuffles so much. One of the original Vettel trains is sitting in the hold tunnel. They use one car of it for oiling the track and for break-in in the spring. Friends of CLP would like to refurbish this train, but we haven't gotten CLP's ok yet and there's still lots of work to be done in other places.

Yes, the Streak may get painted next year! A regional chapter of ACE is trying to set things up for that.

Things are really looking good for CLP this year! I hope the support continues.

I'm glad to hear the event was a success! It is refreshing to see people so enthusastic about keeping a classic wooden coaster alive and well! I hope that everyone's effort will keep the Blue Streak, and the rest of CLP for that matter, running for many years to come!

I had intended on getting out to CLP this year but it looks as though I will have to wait until next year. Oh well, I'll just have to take twice as many rides on the Blue Streak to make up for it!

With CLP being right down the road from me, I'm VERY glad that this event took place and was able to raise so much money! This coaster is my absolute fave woodie with an added bonus of it being a half hour away...

So when's the Tumblebug Challenge?
