Monkey lifted off Arrow's back, or Arrow IS back

Just by looking at the supports and tracking of X, I can really see a tremendous leap forward from the people at Arrow. A few observations: look at those supports! They seem to be extremely well thought out and very solid. Look back at the old mega-loopers and look at those supports. There is a pretty big difference. Second, look at those two raven turns they are SCALED to the speed of the ride. If this was the old Arrow both elements would have been the same size with the first placed higher off the ground. Next, they are finally using double spines for most elements, a move that will really help to prevent this ride from becoming like the Arrows of old. Finally the transitions are perhaps the most exciting aspect and example of the "new" Arrow. Look at how gracefully they are executed. You can really tell that they have rethought the axis of the trains, placing it more towards the riders torso, just like B&M.

Yeah the supports make the ride unique. No body (i think)uses them. It surely doesn't look like any other arrow coaster out there.

I think Arrow is back. I just want to know what else they plan to make. They have fixed most of their problems now they need new types of coasters. Inverted, new mega loopers. I don't think they can just come back with a 4D and that only. Pipeline anyone?

I'd say, yes we can tell. For the *exact* reasons that sockit2me gave. Those things he named are facts, not speculation. You can see in the construction all the wonderful improvements Arrow has made from the Toomer years. Arrow haters of course will greet all this with skepticsm and that's fine. But there are improvements that you can see without so much as a lift hill run.

Of course X is the ONE coaster everyone seems to have their eye on as it is new technology in thrill rides. But many of you have forgotten that Arrow also created Mad Mouses like the one at Michigan's Adventure and Paramount's Great America. I find these small coasters to be quite fun for their size.

And Tennessee Tornado has received very good reviews.

Arrow may be making a comeback but it will take longer than we think. I just hope X will be a success and bring them back in a bigger way.

I think that the pipeline concept is dead as a doornail for this reason: X is an advanced pipeline. Look at the rider placement in relationship to the track. It is exactly the same except that the riders sit on the outside of the track. Couple this with the fact that the pipeline concept was prohibitively expensive and I really doubt we'll ever see a pipeline.
I, for one, would rather have a 4d. It is cheaper and a much more exciting platform on which to experiment.

Wrong. I can. So can anybody else who's ridden Tennessee Tornado. The people who haven't ridden it just don't understand. Even if X is a total bomb, which I highly doubt, Arrow still has the capability of being a huge supplier of top-notch roller coasters. To put some things in perspective, I would rather ride Tennessee Tornado than rides like Superman: Ride of Steel, Alpengeist, or Volcano.

Aother ringing endorsement for Tennessee Tornado. That alone tells me that Arrow has done their homework on the 4-D. I would love to see Arrow make a new Hyper Coaster, standard sitdown version.

It's has always been my opinion that the case against Arrow has been greatly exaggerated.

I agree that people have been overly "rough" on Arrow. I have ridden several Arrow coasters, Loch Ness, BBW, Anaconda, Carolina Cyclone and I didn't find any of them to be too rough. I have enjoyed them all greatly. I haven't noticed any more headbanging on these coasters than I have on Alpengeist (which is my favorite invert). I hope that TT and X put Arrow back in the business in a big way. I also hope that in addition to smoothness they consider lap restraints as opposed to OTSR.

I truley hope Arrow is back. I love all the rides they have put in at Cedar Point.

Wait til you see the inversion size difference on Tennesee Tornado. There is a 103' loop!

Just went on Madd Mouse @ M.A. it's smooth and intense for a little mouse ride. It's 2 years old and feels like it's brand new.

Wow so they made one other nice ride? Yeah that will get them to the top again. Maybe you didn't know but Arrow has had a pretty bad reputation for building crap rides. I'm not saying they won't make some sort of a comeback, but I'm also saying no one can magically predict how X is going to do. TT didn't make a comeback for Arrow, but X will be a big factor in deciding if they do.

If Tennessee Tornado had been built at a major park instead of Dollywood, it would have done the job. Besides, I don't think park owners are going to hold some kind of grudge against Arrow. At the time they were built, the old Arrows were the undisputed best steel coasters out there.

Don't for get the Mad Mouse at MA has silent anti-rollbacks(I think). Arrow is certainly making an attempt to make a huge comeback. I can't wait to see what other projects they have up their sleeve. Where did I hear about a LIM coaster with a 64 passenger train?

...but I think that's the problem with the bigger parks. They wouldn't have gotten a ride like Tennesse Tornado because of the reputation of Arrow, and they wouldn't have wanted to risk a lot of money on that investment.

I don't like the old Arrow's but the new Arrow's look awesome.
