Coaster Fanatic Status?

Ok, here is my dilemma...

I love roller coasters, all of them, from the biggest to the smallest. My friends say I'm not a real coaster fanatic because I don't like free fall rides ( S&S towers, Intamin Towers). What do you think? Would you say I am or am not? Aside from Acrophobia, the only ride I've been on close to a free fall is Millennium Force.

Personally, I don't see how not liking free fall rides would make a difference. IMO they are two different types of rides. You're a real coaster fanatic in my book. :)

S&S towers are awesome!! But, seriously, who cares what your friends think? All that matters is that you love rollercoasters. Ride on...

First of all, S&S towers and Intamin Freefalls are NOT COASTERS. Coaster Fanatics are people who love roller coasters.

Heh. I've had people tell me I'm not a "real" coaster enthusiast because:

-I like steel coasters
-I don't take long vacations specifically to ride coasters
-I rarely get season passes
-I only go to my home parks once a season

Yet I would say anyone who is interested enough in coasters to have at least a rudimentary knowledge of stats and news is an enthusiast; whether or not they can ride coasters every weekend is irrelevant.

I'll take Den's statement's one step further, you dont even have to ride coasters to be a coaster fan. Hell, I love football and baseball (go Ravens and Cubs!) but I dont play, does that make me any less a fan?

Anyway, my parents love coasters and will NEVER ride freefalls. But they are nuts more so than some people on here (though they may not be able to give "chapter and verse" for every stat).

As for what your "friends" tell you, check the signature...
