I just missed a Coaster Special on PBS!

I know all PBS stations show programs on different schedules, but I was wondering if anyone caught a documentary on old, small amusement parks recently. I caught just the tail end of it tonight on PBS WGTE (out of Toledo). It looked really interesting and really well done, featuring parks like Holiday World, Whalom Park, Lake Winnepukesah (I hope that's close to how it's spelled), Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Lakeside Park, and I'm sure a whole bunch more. It shows a lot of neat footage of old coasters, too. In fact it was so well done, I was interested in ordering a video of it until I found out it costs 50 bucks (it sucks being a poor college student).

Did anyone else see this? I didn't even catch the name as I got a phone call right when the closing credits were being shown. Does anybody know the name of this special so I can check if it will be shown anytime in the future?

I caught it, and the flea market documentary. Both were very interesting, and well done. That's PBS for you. It's a great station... when they're not begging.

Well, anyway, It's the third time I've seen it, and I enjoy it even more each time. Don't pay 50 bucks for it... wait untill it's on again. It was good, but not 50 bucks good.

Kudos to PBS. Just when I was thinking about how depressing it was to pay 8 damn dolars to see a movie (Planet of the Apes), I was "cheered up" (Well I wasn't suicidal, just a little angry) by this nice program. :)

All of the Rick Sebak videos are very interesting. All of his Pittsburgh History series are really neat (especially "Kennywood Memories" and "Things That Aren't There Anymore").

The program was called "Great Old Amusement Parks," and if you're a fan of classic amusement parks (like me), then this program is for you.

I missed the program the first time it aired, so when I was in Station Square in downtown Pittsburgh, I bought the video :).

twas a good show.

I saw it last night and I thought it was a great show. They had some teenagers from Cedar point talking and they were sounding so stupid at times it was funny. I thought it was good.

It is one of my favorite amusement park shows. They do seem to play it a lot. I recorded my copy months ago.

Watch carefully during one of the Cedar Point scenes for the kid in the background wearing the gray shirt. :)

I had seen it before but it was still pretty cool. My favorite part was seeing how they jump on a moving "Cedar Downs" type ride. Looks cool, id like to try that!

No, but I saw a great video on Riverview Park (defunct) near Chicago :)

It was an OK show. Kind of rare because most documentaries feature big parks and world class coasters. Not smaller, older parks that have been around forever.

I taped that show, itz sweet, you don't really see video on old traditional park unless they have big coasters!

I was somewhat upset that I missed the first 10 minutes because I think they were talking to a bunch of teens at Cedar Point. When I tried to tape it later that night, it didn't tape...:(
