Take pictures?
man these people are so picky about taking a coaster on a ride. i know its unsafe but if you have a strap tight around your wrist and know what you are doing there is no danger whats so ever. i betcha more than half of the people that say taking a camera on board a ride is unsafe, they do anyway. it adds more thrill to the ride and is lots of fun to watch at home because it brings back memories of the ride and how you took it. and of course i always take pics of the coasters where ever i go its become a fun hobby of mine and i hope to do it all my life.

beastnum1, it's people like you that cause accidents. Think there is "no danger whate so ever" fools yourself into thinking it. I will have you know, in fact there is danger. Things can slip, you can get jerked, you might start to black out and lose your grip.
I hope everybody here realizes that, and will stop (if they even do) taking on-ride photos unless you get park permission, and they give you something to adequetly hold onto your camera ie duck tape.
As for not-on rides, I would, but my camera doesn't take good pics at all, only 1/2 turn out good enough to make out what it is, and of those, only 1/4 accually are worth keeping. I would take pics of the coasters I go on if I had a good camera though.

I hope everybody here realizes that, and will stop (if they even do) taking on-ride photos unless you get park permission, and they give you something to adequetly hold onto your camera ie duck tape.

That is a stupid and ignorant comment. I have taken pictures on many, many roller coasters, and you know what...I had permission every single time. Both large corporate parks and small family parks allow it at many events. Heck, recently one park handed out surgical gloves and duct tape for those who wanted to take pictures on the coaster. Parks walk groups of enthusiasts in and out of restricted areas too for some awesome shots!
Some of you folks need to stop and think. There are two sides to every story. Just because you see an onride photo certainly doesn't mean it was done without park permission and in an unsafe manner.

If it's posted that cameras and vido equipment are not allowed, don't bring them on! It's that simple, just follow the rules, they are there for a reason. This is just as much of a rule as line jumping not being permitted. Therefore, next time you people who bring cameras on rides see line jumpers, you should not get mad, because they, just like you, see no problem with braking rules and continue to do so.... There is no differance.

I do take pictures of coasters, both on and off the ride. I make sure i have the camera strapped around my hand and have a good grip on it.

Alright, you guys are breaking off the point when you talk about comparing line jumpers and people who "carefully and with permission" photograph and/or video rides. May as well lump them in with people that break the speed limit and ax murderers. You can tie anything in you want that is in any way an infraction of the rules. If the guy has permission, then he's completely within his rights whether you like it or not. Now compare that to the guy that line jumps who DOES NOT have permission from anybody.
I as well have done on-ride video. I wasn't looking through the viewfinder, but rather, I had the video camera firmly to my chest the entire ride. I had permission to do so.
If that makes me stupid and/or ignorant in your eyes, then fine. You're not allowed to come watch the video at my house. :o)

I was able to pull off sneaking aboard with the Incredible Hulk, but Millennium Force is just a little too bulky to stuff down the front of your shirt. Those Kennywood staffers have an eagle eye. :oÞ
