B&M pre-drops

everybody here has been on a B&M or has at least seen pics of them, right? well something just hit me. I saw a pic of the new coasters at WB Movie World. in one pic you can see that Batman and the other new B&M both have those drops after the lift hill, but before the first drop. I was thinking, why would they not put that drop on Nitro, but every other new coaster for 2001 (actually I haven't looked at Wildfire all that closely) and 2002? is it just something for hypers? was it just something that they wanted to try once to make sure their way is better?

Well B&M uses those mini drops as a way to reduce strain on the chain I believe. In the case of Nitro, there wasn't room to fit one of those little dips. I don't know what the other coaster they didn't have a dip on was.

The Huk doesn't have the dip for obvious reasons...

I know B:KF does. It's to reduce drag through the drop.

Pre-drops are awesome on B&M coasters. I've been on 2 so far, which I can remember right now. The two are Medusa (SFMW) and Raging Bull.

They do reduce "hang time" in the front, and intensify the whipping over feeling in the back of the train. The ride in the back more than makes up for that feeling, IMO :).

i never really noticed a different feeling. i just thought that it was for speeding it up before the drop and after the lift hill.

Instead of a pre-drop use an elevator lift hill like on Millennium Force....
