Michigan needs a new park

With Adventure not doing well, I think Michigan needs another park. When i get older, and build my park, Its going in Michigan. Another reason for this is because i love the state of Michigan. I live in Illinois.

I agree that Michigan needs a good sized amusement park, but I don't think MA is doing badly. I think they are doing very well. Just look at the improvements they've made over the past 3 years.

Yeah, Ive just been hearing rumers of them not breaking even lately. But with these other rumors of them building a new hyper coaster there, they must be doing quite well, being hyper coasters are inthe 30 and 40 millions.

yeah, if you include the scenary and theming. It can easily total 30 million.

CoasterFreakJr., where are you getting your figures??? Milleneum Force cost Cedar Point under 20 million and it is a Giga coaster. A hyper coaster would cost quite a bit less.

WHile a nice new park would be cool, we already are privilaged enough to have Shivering Timbers, the best wooden coaster in the world. MA continues to improve quickly, and its prices are low. Also, Either great america or cedar point are no more than 4 or 5 hours away from you. We actually are a lot more privileged than people from like seattle or phoenix, where there really are no decent coasters within a long way. just think positive.

Millennium Force cost $25 million. The average steel coaster is running between $15 and $20 million if you average this year's new additions.

Back many many years ago Cedar Point bought land in Michigan for another park. The project never even went into the design stage. To Bad.:( Then About two years later Cedar Point bought more land (in a different part of Mi.)but that project also didn't go into the design stage.

How about Six Flags buying land near Dundee?

Michigan Does not need another big park. Cedar Point is close for people like me in Southeast Michigan. And for Southwest you can go to SFGA. For the people in the north and west you have MIA

I heard about Six Flags building a new park somewher near Dundee.

Yes Cedar Point owns about 450 acres or so in MI. The Gemini was originally designed to go to this park ,but the project was scrapped, and the gemini went to CP. Cedar Point still owns the land in MI suprisingly though......

Here is the exact line from the 10 K report I have on my computer:

"The Partnership, through its subsidiary Cedar Point of Michigan,
Inc., owns approximately 450 acres of land in southern Michigan."

No mention of where, just southern Michigan, sorry.

I remember hearing about Cedar Point coming to Michigan back in the early eighties. The rumor was that it was going to be near Battle Creek MI. The project fell through for some reason and a mall was put up in this area instead. I don't know how valid the rumor was but I think it was in the newspaper at the time. Anyone else remember the specifics of this rumor?

Since it was brought up, here's the latest on Dundee rumor. All of Dundee's major roads (US-23 and SR50) are under construction due to the opening of the Cabela's (outdoors superstore) next month. Word from the parents is that they're widening the exit ramps. The one and only bridge over the River Raisin is being rebuilt this summer as well. So all major roads in and through Dundee are being rebuilt. NOTE: this doesn't mean a thing regarding the rumored park. However, this construction wouldn't hurt it from happening.
