Combining Coasters with Business trips

I just managed to get myself scheduled for a service school (Respironics, Ventilator) just outside of Pittsburgh on August 8th and 9th, Of course my hotel is halfway between the company and Kennywood! Who else has managed to pull this stunt? Days on company business evenings at the park. And of course I've gota get CP or WoA on the way back to Indiana!!

I do it all the time. Texas trifecta last weekend. SFoT, SFFT, and Astroworld(the worst six flags park, IMO). Heading west this coming week. Going to try for Elitch Gardens if I can squeeze in a couple of hours. ;) And they pay me for this..... hahahahaha

Just a couple of G-force junkies!

I hit SFoT two years ago after visiting our plant in Arlington. The first half of the day, I rode around in Cadillacs. The second half, on roller coasters. You just gotta love it!!!!

Ah yes, why travel on your own dime when the company is perfectly happy to send you there? I've done that to SFGAm (Chicago) and Michigan's Adventure (Grand Rapids). Looking forward to SFStL at some point this year (I hope).

I hardly consider it a "stunt" if I go to a park rather than feeding my face followed by sitting in my hotel room staring at the 4 walls when I'm traveling on business. So far this summer, I've stopped at La Ronde, Sylvan Beach, and PKD on business trips.

Isn't that the best! The reason I get to ride so many coasters is because my profession has me traveling the world with the time and flexibility to go wherever I want. A coaster enthusiast's dream job!

I once was sent for two weeks to Manhattan. So I flew into Newark, rented a car, drove to SFGadv, then the next weekend, took the N out to Coney Island (Even though it wasn't open) just because I've never been. And in effect took pictures of the old thunderbolt 1 1/2 weeks before it was demolished.

We were able to visit PGA last year when my husband had to go to San Fran for work. Great way to see parks that you normally wouldn't be able to get to (we live in the Pittsburgh area.)

Christ how do you kids do it

It's a great thing. I was just picked as one of 5 people to go to Las Vegas for a conference. It's my first business trip and my first trip to Vegas. We are heading out a few days early (Labor Day weekend) and we're going make sure we do most of the coasters and sightseeing before the conference starts. They're paying me to stay at The Venetian and they're even sending us to a show.

Hey, if you're able, why not? So long as you don't try to make the company (non coaster related) pay for the fun bits, no problem. I just wish I could! School districts don't tend to do so well when they're so deep in the hole as we are here, but I'm going to try and chaperone trips to parks if I can. :)

That's the beauty of this trip in particular, it is just at the distance that the Drive vs Fly factor kicks in. Its a 6 hr drive so I can leave early Wednesday and have Wednesday afternoon in the park, then get down to business on Thursday and Friday. Also I always try to save the Hospital money by finding a lower cost hotel then the Vendor recommends, ie they suggest Raddison-$125 night/ I pick Days Inn $55 night.
This also worked out once to allow me to take the train home from Atlanta vs staying over Friday night and Flying on Saturday.

I always try to get the most out of any trip paid for by the Boss, Both in greater knowledge for my job but also to enjoy myself too.

Nope, musician. It's great for a coaster fan. They offer me a concert in Osaka and I said "great.....schedule a day for me to go to Nagashima Spaland!" Concert in Tokyo..."Great, schedule time for me to go to Fujikyu....etc." (I love my job :) In fact today I got to go to Big Chiefs!)
