Peeps who dislike Psyclone read this

Hello, I know a lot of buzzers ou there and the non-buzzers out there don't like Pyclone at SFMM becaus it is "Too Rough." Well think about it, it's a woodie for cryin' out loud. They aren't suppose to be Goliath o Riddlers Revenge like smooth. BTW, I don't think it's rough at all, it's a great coaster. I doubt SFMM will take it out anytime soon. What, it opened in March of 1991. They wouldn't take out a coaster that young. I don't see why everyone wantsit taen out for a new ride. Here's a solution, keep Psyclone and build the new coaster around it.

I rode Psyclone quite a few years back but i loved every minute of it. The only ride that i thought was a little rough was Flashback but i still enjoyed its unique layout.

Well Psyclone use to be great but now it's a wooden version of Flashback! I know a wooden coaster is not suppose to be as smooth as a steel coaster, it is also not suppose to be as jarring as a jack hammer either. Psyclone fall in the catorgory of jarring it slamms you from side to side like your one of the freakin crash test dummies. Psyclone is also very slow, has more brakes then AutoZone,ricketty,painful, and boring. So why in the hail should SFMM keep a piece of crap like Psyclone. I was so happy when SFMM was doing their failure of a re-furbisment on Psyclone, I thought SFMM was going to do a great job on psyclone and make it a rideable ride but I was seriously disappointed. Psyclone finally re-opens after being closed long enough to build a hole new wooden coaster, I go to get a ride on the supposedly new and improved coaster to find out that it's riding worst then it was before they did the re-furbisment IMO(Failure). The only thing that did seam improved was the first drop it was pretty smooth and gave some minor airtime other then that (I hate to say it but)it sucked!

Also the GP doesn't approve of the so called make over either b/c the psyclone area is still pretty much dead. The only reason most people even bother to go back there is to get a peak at Deja Vu Psyclone rarely has any type of line over 15 to 20min.

Psyclone is cool! I didn't think that it was very rough at all when I went on it last month.
I found Colossus to be much more rough.

Psyclone rocks. I prefer coasters that bang around a lot. I understand the concern of certain people, but heck...the beauty of wood is the fact that it changes with the weather. Different day, different coaster..

Psyclone is the worst wood coaster I have ever been on. It is so heavily braked, you hardly feel any g's. All you do is creep over hills and smash your ribs into the side of the train.

I did get a ride on Psyclone, post rehab last week. I thought it was a bit better, and a bit faster over the camelbacks. Not CCI fast, but also not coming to a near stop the way it used to. All in all, Psyclone is an average wooden coaster now, a bit on the rough side. Will it be taken out any time soon? I highly doubt it. (we have to keep that coaster count up, no-what-I-mean, Vern?)

wooden roller coasters are supposed to be rough. smooth coasters are what they started using steel for.

It just boggles my mind that Viper at SFGAm and Georgia Cyclone can be so killer, and Psyclone is so (supposedly) lame. I wonder what went wrong with this one? Any ideas?

Not all wood coasters are rough, if you believe this then you should ride Lightning Racer at Hersheypark. It is just as smooth as some steel coasters I've been on.

Why must you convince that every coaster at SFMM is great... No, woodies don't HAVE to be insanely rough; ever ride a GCI or CCI?

The Psyclone is more heavily braked and has highly banked turns to reduce on maintenance.

Yeah, the Boss was REAL smooth ;). Seriously, though, I'm not saying the Psyclone is great, just a fun ride. A little on the too rough side. I believe, however, if a woodie rides as smooth as glass, then it might as well be steel. Even rides like roar and Ghostrider have some roughness to them, and that is what makes a wooden coaster what it is. There is a point when it gets too much...like on Psyclone.

Wooden coasters require work - that's why Northern parks have off-seasons. However, those of us in FL or SoCal don't get off-seasons, so work is often done piece-meal or not at all. I rode Psyclone a couple years ago, and thought it was good, although Georgia's version is a little better, and none can compare to the original!
Woodies should NEVER be removed, they are the soul of the park. Retrack, reprofile if necessary, but NEVER tear down. Coaster count in the 1920's was around 1500 (all woodies, BTW), but fell to about 150 before John Allen came to our rescue. In his honor, woodies should live forever!
