I won't go into the record breaking coasters PKI has put out year by year - we've been through that before. Nor will I mention the amazing reviews FOF has gotten in droves this season (oops, just did).
But the fact that ACE holds conventions at places such as SFKK, where there is a lack of almost everything (and I'm from Louisville), proves that your reasoning about a stellar lineup is wrong. As for PKI not caring what people think, that too is incorrect. They find out what will bring people to the park, and build it. It's called market data. It's called being profitable.
What's more, excluding Son of Beast and The Beast from PKI's lineup is like taking MF and Magnum out of Cedar Point's arsenal. You can't build any reasonable argument like that.

I really would like to know why the opinions of people like me and Robvia are so threatening to everyone. ?!?!? It isn't as if what we say is going to change anything, so why do we get bashed for expressing how we feel?
Personally, I could care less now what they build at PKI. But I still think that Tomb Raider is going into the wrong part of the park. But hey - that is me. Being that it is a "totally immersive dark ride experience", it is completely messing up the atmosphere of Rivertown - regardless of whether or not it will have a jungle/adventure/water type element. The very description of the ride testifies to the fact that you will not be able to see any outside landscape while on/in this thing.
There is also another reason why I think it is pretty irresponsible on PKI's part about teasing us about what exactly it is. How are we going to know whether or not we will WANT to ride it, or even be able to ride it, if we don't know what it is going to be? Is it going to physically make us go upside down? If so, there are many people who might get sick on it, and who would NOT have gone on it had they known ahead of time exactly what the nature of the ride was. Are you going to be forced to wear some sort of 3D glasses in order to get the full experience? If so, I would not be able to ride it because I wear glasses, and can't see diddly-squat without them, and most 3D glasses don't fit over my glasses.
I think the big thing that really irks me with PKI right now is that they COULD have split the cost of what they are spending on this thing, and given us several new rides, attractions, and a coaster - something for EVERYONE in the family, including Grandma - for their 30th anniversary. THEN they could have built this thing later. And in a more appropriate place in the park. But I feel I am a part of a segment of society that is being forgotten by PKI. This TR:TR thing clearly is aimed at thrill seekers. How can PKI say it is for EVERYONE when the description clearly states that it will shoot you straight up, and then straight down? A little too heart-pounding if you ask me.

Fine. Tell me why ACE events REALLY aren't held at PKI, but don't be a smart-alec and tell me it is because of people like Robvia. And also, why don't you go back and re-read my post. I was NOT excluding The Beast, or SOB from their lineup. If anything, I was HIGHLIGHTING them as being the best coasters in the park. I stated PKI had a bunch of mediocre coasters - EXCEPT for SOB and The Beast.
And one more thing - QUIT attacking the character of everyone else! Making statements such as "You're as wrong as Robvia was" makes me feel like my opinion doesn't amount to a hill of beans. What I think you are forgetting is the fact that the ride isn't even open yet! When it does get close to opening the ride, I am sure the park will release more facts (especially during a media preview).

Let's see here... A family inverted coaster, a family flume ride with a new theme, and a brand new film for their motion simulator ride for, you guessed it.....the family.
It isn't any secret that the park has been marketing to familes this season. Ever seen the PKI spots on TV? They are aimed at sharing a family experiance. I was at the park on Sunday and could not believe the amount of familes in line for the flume and coaster. Looks like they know exactly what they are doing.
I just don't see the point to all this 'want' type of thinking. The park has installed a coaster every year since 1998. You would think they might be ready for something else now. No?
The park is extremely excited about next year and they have every right to be. I am sure they have spent a LOT of time into marketing research to make sure this ride would be amazing, and to do something fresh.
So, for those that continue to 'want' something else and continue to look at a ride or attraction for 'what it could be' instead of for what it will be or is, take a deep breath, exhale, and realize that the point of all these new additions to parks have a common point to them.
That point being fun.
Anyone remember that?

Though you ARE entitled to YOUR opinion, and to state that you disagree with someone, you are NOT entitled to state that somneone is wrong about something if they are just giving their opinion. That's all I'm doing - giving my opinion. They aren't facts. If I say SOB has an overbanked curve that could qualify as a second inversion, THEN you could tell me I was wrong. But if I state that I think SOB is a mediocre coaster at best, THAT is simply my opinion, and you are in no position to correct me for that.

I disagree. I find that PKI's Vortex is my favorite steel coaster, out of the ones I've ridden, and I feel it is world-class. Just because you feel they aren't worthy, doesn't mean other people feel the same way. Face it - your opinion isn't everyone's.

I'd just like to point out that all those parks you named until CP are open year round. That little aspect might just give them a slight edge atendance-wise.

That really bothers me that you would write them something like that. You are completely and fully entitled to your opinion, but imagine how much you're upsetting these people at the park. You're basically telling them they're doing a bad job and with something they're this excited over, it makes them feel useless if that's the kind of response they get from this. Do you know how much work had to go into the planning and development? The entire team at the park are very proud of what they're doing next year and really wanted everyone to come see it and feel what they feel about it. I know how frustrated I would be if I thought I was really doing something special and had worked so hard to please everyone and then I get these horrible e-mails and letters of how disappointed everyone was in it. Just thinking about that even upsets me. So, please, if you're going to e-mail or write the park, or any other person or place, do it in an intelligent and polite fashion instead of just shooting them with everything you've got. I'm sure your response will be much more informative and taken more seriously. Thanks!

oh good, someone else noticed that too. my home park is MA home of ST...and you know, we're pleased as punch with ST, and honestly we PATIENTLY await our next coaster...whenever that may be. our new attraction for this year is a circus...and to be honest with you, it's pretty damn cool. what that woman does with horses...errr, nevermind(yes it's a family park). i guess when you've constantly been fed prime rib and you all of a sudden get a porterhouse, you tend to get a lil pithy since you can't dip porterhouse in aus jous. but when you've had t-bones and all of a sudden you get a porterhouse....well, you kinda like to appreciate it a little more.
in other words...don't act so spoiled. sheesh....

Seems like a more interesting question is why you're so afraid to take criticism when -- at least from the way you write your posts -- you're more than willing to dish it out?
1. I don't know why this argument has turned to how many ACE events PKI has had, but I have a feeling it would be just as many as CP. When was the last time CP even had an ACE event? And what relation does that have to PKI's lack of a truly awsome steel ride? That argument just doesen't hold up, because in my 4 years of being an ACE member, I can't think of a single ACE event at CP. I may be wrong, but i don't think so.
2. I'm sure PKI could also care less how many times they are featured on coaster shows on discovery.
3. i am seriously craving the beast right now, so excuse me if i sound a bit cranky, but this whole discussion really bothers me. YES, everyone has a right to have an opinion, and YES everyone does have a right to disagree with that opinion.
