What is a SLC? I have heard that before on the board, but I have never really understood what it was

SLC stands for Suspended Looping coaster-Vekoma's response to the inverted coaster. They typically feature five inversions and often referred to as Hang 'n' Bangs.

Welcome to Six Flags Great America, home of the fastlane and delay-ja vu! We have now officially been deemed the world-wide wait!
After constantly reading about all of the accidents on Vekoma Boomerangs, I stay away from them. It's the only coaster I've never re-ridden.
Besides those though, Vekoma is a good company.

Yep, Besides SLCs, Boomerangs, Invertigos, etc. they are a great company! ;)

No, seriously though I have ridden some very nice things from Vekoma, unfortunately they were the exception and not the norm. I especially am looking forward to riding one of their new Cliffhanger coasters.

Where are you reading about "accidents" on boomerangs? They're perfectly safe. Rollbacks aren't accidents.

I found another company other than Vekoma that makes Boomerangs & you can buy your own from $11 onwards; www.australiagift.com/boomerang_shop.html
Vekoma boomerangs have gotten stuck upside down or at an inverted angle on at least 2 occasions at Kentucky Kingdom and Marine World. While not an accident with injuries, it is an unpleasant experience for patrons to be hanging upside down. This rollback seems to be a problem with this ride.

All in all their rides are not smooth or well designed to give pleasant rides.
lets not forget vekoma also gave us the flying dutchman.
Vekoma makes great "family coasters" - rollerskaters and the like. Runaway Reptar is the world's first junior suspended, and reminds me of a small rollerskater turned upside down. Hang-N-Bangs (SLCs) vary widely, most are at least a little painful due to the fact that the elements are too tightly packed. But with well-padded OTSR's they aren't too bad, and resurfacing the trackwork regularly seems to help a lot. Boomerangs are OK, the cobra roll could be spread out a little to reduce the head and shoulder banging. But I would be very remiss if I failed to mention the concept that, IMO, saved the company. They make GREAT flying coasters, parks would do well to theme them up a bit.

Reptar is an inverted Woodstock Express (Cedar Point). Exact same layout.

Well, I wouldn't exactly call them on-purposes or intentionals... But of course we know that rollbacks pose no danger to the rider and most of us knew that is what you meant. ;) We need a distinction between accidents which are merely inconveniences and those that cause injury.

Is it? I seem to remember a number of creations by Caripro and Setpoint that came years before Vekoma's Runaway Reptar.

Caripro
Batflyer at Lightwater Valley, 1996
SGC at PKI, 1998
Spellbreaker at Legoland California, 2000
Vleermuis at Plopsaland, 2000
Setpoint-
P.Flyers at IoA, 1999
FSS at Carowinds, 2000

Love that RCDB...
It is the worlds first Junior suspended coaster. You are talking different types of suspended coasters- IE Single rail for SGC at PKI. But Reptar is the offical first junior suspended coaster.
