Another PKI beginner's question.

What are the crowds like during the early part of PKI's season (April-Memorial Day), i.e., when is the best time to go?

I know that May weekdays are normally the best, but PKI isn't open daily until after Memorial Day, traditionally when the tourist droves start to arrive.

(Unfortunately I'm not a season pass holder...not yet, anyway).

Last year I went on Memorial Day, it was great! No crowds at all, although I cannot say that it was 100% because of the holiday, it also drizzled. For Memorial Day the average wait for Face/Off was still two hours. Vortex was about 10 minutes and Beast was about 20. I highly recommend taking advantage of this day, especially if you are not a season pass holder.

The wait for Face Off is always bad - not very high rider capacity being a boomerang ride and all-Vortex's line has always been a fast mover-1600 riders an hour I do believe.

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight?

i usually go on the early weekends. PKI usually opens late April or early May. There is usually a college day promo to get in cheap. But every time i've been the last 6 years the park is really kind of crowded. Like it's not packed, but a 30 to 45 min wait (or more if it's nice weather) for anything seems pretty bad for a MAY weekend.

One year i went on a June tues and everything (meaning coasters) was over an hour.

I guess the best time would be as early on in the season as possible on the weekdays.

Correction: PKI opens early to mid April, this year on April 15.

I forgot about that. I'm so used to the northern ohio parks opening in May. I always second guess myself when i think it opens in April.

it just doesn't seem natural to me :)
