Bad Weather Riding Conditions

Anyone ever go on a ride while it's raining or get totally drenched waiting for one. I remember waiting in line for Reptar's Revenge for 30 minutes while it rained. I got soaked. Some people however, did end up riding in the rain right before they closed the ride. I've always wondered what it felt like to ride in the rain. Anyone know?

When I was in line for Mantis for the first time, a storm came over and SOAKED EVERYONE! It sucked! I was soaked all over.

85 mph into the rain hurts!

Another different example of bad weather is when its 95 degrees outside and you're waiting in line for a ride and you'd love to get something to cool you off but you're not paying 3$ for a 20 oz. Coke.

I rode Thunder Road @ PC one time in the rain...even without record breaking speeds that can hurt, I had my eyes closed for 3/4ths of the whole ride...BTW, I was, unfortunantly, going forwards. *** This post was edited by Coaster_Addict_Patrick on 7/12/2001. ***

I spent two cold, rain-soaked days at PKI in October a couple of years ago. Really, I had the best time ever. The park was empty and to tell you the truth I never even felt the impact of the raindrops on any of the rides. Bring a poncho or buy one for 5 bucks and have a good time.

It is nice that having a good storm clears out the crowds, but riding in the rain isn't all that appealing! Frankly, I don't much care for riding right after the rain either, when all the seats are wet and throwing off water onto you, though the tracks are slicker and more intense at that time.

A couple weeks ago I went to PKI and it started to pour. We ended up riding the Beast. When we got in line it was pouring, and when we finally got on the ride it was still pouring. Luckily it was a drizzle when we peeked the first hill, or it might have been a little painful.

Rain just makes the rides more funy, though I can imagine hail being realy painful. For all of you who complain about the rain hurting too much, maybe you should look for rides that don't just rely on speed to deliver thrills.

Try a real ride that can deliver everytime, every condition.

It's great fun to be whooshing down a lift hill on the front of an inverter that pleases every time (even if your hair is a state afterwards)!

Ive ridden SOB, Beast (in the snow, cool site at the top of the first hill), Reptar, Vortex, and Top Gun in the rain. SOB hurts the face, probabily cause I got halfway up the lift and it started pouring buckets of water, but I think the ride got up to at least 80 MPH. Beast in the snow was just awesome to be able to look into the valley. The rest were ok, but it wasnt raining that hard.

My daughter and I rode Roar at SFA twice in a downpour this spring, first front row then back row. The front row was wetter than most wet rides. We were totally soaked to the skin. The back row gave us the best air time that I have ever gotten on Roar. Either row, it's a real help to have glasses on as the drops can be right painful hitting your eyes.

Mr. X, I can sympathize...I rode MF up front in thepouring rain, and we're talking big rain drops.

The whole ride, I had to hold my arms up in front of my face to cut down on the pain. The only fun part was going down the hills...especially on the first hill because you fall faster than the rain so the rain falls up. :)

Yesterday @ Pki we goyt stuck on the Lift of Vortex. Then it Rained! We were so Drenched.

I rode the Steel Dragon 2000 in the rain just day before yesterday. As you know, Japan can have massive, and instantaneous thunderstorms. We were going down the 3rd hill, and boom! It definitely stung, but I have to say the worst was practically drowning as you screamed. You cant help but yell on that ride, and the rain went into my mouth in buckets.

I rode Montu front seat in pouring rain, it was very awesome. It can hurt, but it adds a new thrill to an already great ride!

i've been to PCW twice when it was raining. the one time i had to ride the woodies with my hands over my face the rain was killing so much.

but it was great. we walked onto every ride all day. every time i go to a park i pray that it rains. less crowd. you just have to tough it out.

I rode Mean Streak at Cedar Point in the rain and that really hurt. I hate riding woodies in the rain or after the rain because the slick track causes the car to shake and the ride becomes very uncomfortable and too rough. I rode Two Face: Flip Side at SFA after the rain and while going backwards up the lift, all the water fell on me from the equipment on the train overhead. I got soaked. I also rode MF at CP in the rain and let me tell you...... going through the straightaways at speeds of over 80 mph is fun, but in the rain...... it is downright brutal to the face. OUCH!!!
