The first Town Hall Meeting deciding the use of land of the former Six Flags America.

...Only, no one is supposed to call it Six Flags America anymore. Kenny from Please Stop Vlogging is usually satirical and funny, but this time he tries something a little different. If you are following news about the property, you might want see something from the perspective of a fan of the park. He really changed the way I viewed the park over the last year.

The Fate of Six Flags America Isn't Looking Good...

I personally can't stand watching his videos. It's the ultimate example of "I have two or three minutes of stuff to say, so here's a 20 minute video where I ramble a lot and use a lot of buzzwords that don't apply to the actual content as much as you'd hoped"

“Content that your not going to see anywhere else!”

I tend to avoid AI like the plague, but one of the few ways I would use it would be wringing the 25 minutes of fluffy crap out of a 30min YT video.

"Clyde, scrap the caddie.." er, I mean, "Claude, show me the point." Some (most? all?) of these YT folks are just insufferable.

It's fine. Most of his videos are satire of the kind of crap a lot of us don't like.

But I found this video to be very interesting because of the subject matter.

Is it strange that there are currently no plans to move some of the coasters? Especially Superman. That used to be a great ride when i rode it in the early 2000s….

I'm not surprised by this. Six Flags has done exactly what I thought they'd do, which is take the mouse, a few of the newer flat rides and all of the trains. From the moment of the announcement I never expected any of the coasters to survive. Superman was a great ride, but it's an odd layout and at this point it's closer to 30 years old than 25. It's too much ride for a small park and too old and outdated for a larger or more well known park. If they had thought there would be a market for it I'm sure they would have tried to sell it, but I can't imagine anyone wanting it.

I suppose there is always a chance Wild One and/or other parts of the park end up as part of whatever comes next for the property. But I don't think it's a priority for any of the involved parties.

Wild One is the biggest loss in my opinion. It's sad how many classic wooden coasters get closed these days.

It's funny because I can only think of a few. Wild One and the two at Lakemont that likely aren't ever going to come back. Prior to that the most notable two I can think of are Big Dipper at Geauga Lake and Texas Cyclone at Astroworld.

Maybe I'm missing some, but that's actually pretty good.

(I'm not counting any of the RMC conversions since I don't consider any of the originals to have been "classics", but I suppose the number of traditional wooden coasters has dropped in the last decade with those conversions)

Doesn’t seem to be much appetite these days for any new classic wooden coasters. Coaster fans have gotten used to their rides being smooth.

Williams Grove Cyclone, but that's probably not a bad thing.

Valore - Classic Car Valuation

Most of their coasters are old and with the cost of moving them anywhere else is just not worth it. Sad but reality. Plus many parks are saturated, they already have coasters similar to the ones at SFA. And on top of that I think the price for scrap metal is still high so....

Rolling Thunder at Great Adventure. Easily forgotten.

And the Conneaut Blue Streak, which I remembered when thinking "was there a wooden coaster more poorly maintained than Rolling Thunder"?

I want to give kudos to Kings Island and Kings Dominion for the recent work on their wooden coasters. It needs to be more fashionable for parks to do that. The two Racers have quickly become two of my favorite rides.

I admittedly had totally missed Conneaut Lake and Williams Grove when thinking of classic woodies that have closed. I have fun memories of Conneaut's Blue Streak would have loved to have ridden what seemed like a glorified backyard coaster at Williams Grove.

We visited King's Island just before the 4th. They have such a great collection of wood coasters.

We were prepared for Racer and Beast to be rough, but they were quite smooth for wood coasters. And Mystic Timbers is still such an amazing ride!

KI and Holiday World are keeping the wooden coaster dream alive (glad to hear KD is too) really wish KI would send a team north to work on Blue Streak though. My ride this year had a full on jackhammer going through the entire turnaround.
