Holiday World celebrates the Fourth with Mack Rides plans

From the press release:

Santa Claus, Ind.—–The largest single-attraction investment in park history, $22 million Cannonball! water roller coaster will take riders 90 feet in the air, then speed through more than 1,000 feet of coaster track before landing in the water for a huge splash. Announced just days before America’s 250th anniversary, Cannonball! is themed to a Fourth of July community center pool party with a longstanding cannonball dive competition.

“This ride is dedicated to every kid who had to work up the courage to climb the tall diving board at their community pool,” says Leah Koch-Blumhardt, Fourth-Generation Owner and Director of Communications. “And it’s a tribute to every small town with a quirky annual tradition. There’s something special about the way we come together to celebrate our independence as a nation, and we hope Cannonball conveys that magic.”

The embedded video is hilarious! I've watched it three times and I cackle out loud every time the announcers get splashed. I only found a few easter eggs. I bet there are a lot more. This is the best marketing for a roller coaster I've ever seen. And the ride looks impressive.

Now I'm going to watch it a forth time...

"Go for the rides, stay because you can't get up the top of the hill by the end of the day."

This has to be some of the best amusement park marketing since Paula worked there.

I'm curious, what happened to Paula? I recall there was a fallout amongst the family after Will's death but Paula seemed to be a vital part of the management team at Holiday World, no?

She retired in 2019.

I hope for Holiday World's sake that this is a new model because what I rode at Europa Park was not good in an it almost ruined my day because it was so violent sort of way.

I understand there's water involved so that adds an extra layer of complexity and costs are up everywhere... but $22 million?

Thunderbird was $22 million 11 years ago. That seems like a bargain for this one.

Thunderbird is also much larger in scale, but yes... 11 years ago is practically the stone ages in financial terms. I guess I haven't been paying too much attention to ride prices because that $22 million jumped out to me.

Well we are at 10 dollar Big Mac meals, and 11 years ago they were 6 dollars. Everything is expensive compared to 11 years ago.

Magnum's 3rd hill is the best airtime hill out of all the coasters in the world!

Mack rides are top shelf, too. I believe the lack of a lot of custom jobs in the US was cost. Only lately are we seeing more.
