Fast & Furious Supercharged soft opens at Universal Studios Florida

From the article:

Universal Orlando shifted into a higher gear this weekend, beginning technical rehearsals for Fast & Furious โ€“ Supercharged, its new speed-oriented attraction inside Universal Studios theme park. Translation: While F&F is in what we frequently call โ€œsoft opening,โ€ it may or may not be open to the public, at least through its grand-opening date. Universal has not announced an official opening date, although it will hold media events during the first week of May.

Ugh. Is this yet another video-based attraction at Universal? If I wanted to watch TV, I would stay home. The park is way overpriced (and their tickets don't include their cut-the-line pass like Disney) considering about 1/2 of its attractions are video based (ie a cheap way to build an attractions vs animatronics and scenery).

If this is video-based, the actually removed a nice attraction with real effects to install this.

I had no idea. Maybe it’s more popular and relevant than I thought...

Lol. The Fast and the Furious is a multi billion dollar franchise.

That certainly doesn't make it high art. :)

Believe me, I am not defending it as such. Simply saying that it's culturally relevant.

I mean it's no Avatar... /sarcasm

Only enough, I was way impressed by all things in Avatar land. You didn't need to know anything about the movie to know that this was supposed to be another planet that was turned into a tourist area - and the ride was freaking awesome. I don't care what the subject matter is, if you make it look that good, and the motion that goes with it is that cool, I'm in.

Totally. I saw 2 Harry Potter movies, thought they were unimaginative and did nothing for me. Yet I want to visit Harry Potter World at IOA so badly because I keep hearing how amazing the entire package is. (Rides, theming, buildings)

I saw maybe one of the Harry Potter movies, read one or two of the books, but Harry Potter land at IOA blew me away.

Later, I went to IOA with a friend who is a huge Harry Potter fan, and she was nearly in tears upon entering: it so closely matched the movies she couldn't help herself.

Saw a video describing this ride as the worst universal ride ever. Why does everyone hate this ride so much? Granted, it’s not the best ride or anything, but worst ride ever is a little strong. Maybe it’s everyone being burnt out on the IP itself??

A lot of people probably found it strange that an attraction based on a film franchise about racing involved mostly sitting still while watching a screen.

Also, there's a chance long-time Universal parks fans didn't like losing the last iteration of a classic attraction with Disaster/Earthquake.

Yay for search working so well. But zombie thread. I never did the old attraction.

F&F > RRR

That's what it was for me. Heck, I still would rather have Jaws back over all the Potter stuff, but it's clearly an insanely popular and well done area, and each attraction is worthy of the popularity.

Fast & Furious Supercharged just feel like a cheaply done filler attraction. Heck, I think the Justice League rides at Legacy Six Flags parks are better rides than F&F.

Last time I rode Supercharged was a fun experience. We were on a bus loaded with a bunch of fun college kids. They were all hooting and hollering at all the cheesy parts. It made the ride better. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I personally didn't mind F&F... I'd ride it every so visits when there was no wait, I think it gets a lot more hate than it's worth. That being said, it's also no loss going bye bye. You know, kind of like Magnum.

It must be a thing to turn this ride into a party? These people seem to be having a good time.

I do wonder if there will be a shift back soon to more animatronic type rides like the old Kongfrontation and E.T rides?

^There already has, there is no park in front of a screen ride at Epic, they did a major course correct after this ride.

If you loved it so much, you'd come and ride it! Instead, you are letting it sink into Lake Erie with no care in the world. It needs your turnstile count, Brett. It's only a matter of time.
