Cedar Point gate tops $100

Admission to Cedar Point will exceed $100 at the gate for the first time, but visitors who plan ahead can pay significantly less. Online passes and tickets vary in price, but are less expensive.

The park has raised its front-gate ticket price by 17%, from $90 last year to $105 this season. That walk-up price is now higher than the park’s lowest-tier season pass, the Silver Pass, which costs $99 online and includes unlimited visits through Labor Day as well as free parking.

Wow. You can buy a pass with free parking for less than a 1 day bought at the park ticket.

Why would anybody buy a 1 day ticket then? People will always choose the lowest price right? Doesn’t really matter the type of pass it is.

The percentage of people who pay gate price is very very VERY low. They do this for two reasons:

1) to sell season passes

b) so it sounds like a great deal when you're getting 35% off of a ticket online

Hi

When I went to renew my pass at the end of last year, I went to the ticket window thinking I could avoid the inconvenience fee. They told me it was $100 more to renew in person than online. So I renewed online and saved $80 or whatever it was over the gate price. Why the gate price and online price to renew is different, I have no idea.

I’m still amazed people still buy 1 day tickets to a Disney park.
