Six Flags Great Adventure announces boardwalk-themed section

If they needed a boardwalk, they would already have one. (Somebody had to do it.)

Not a fan of the New Jersey Six Flags, but is a really good idea. I take it that this will be something like the Boardwalk area at Cedar Point? A new themed area is a step in the right direction.

Well, a boardwalk without a lake. Which is really dumb, because they have a lake, it's just in the wrong place. Or, you know, the boardwalk is in the wrong place.

That said: that area of the park was dead last year - basically a bunch of concrete on the way to Superman - and it needed something. I guess they're getting the mouse and the Zamperla spinny ride from SF America, moving the Roundup, and adding a wave swinger and a flying eagles.

The lack of using the lake for a drone show and fireworks besides the 4 is just stupid. Along with not using the Batman Stadium for DC events, and a baller DC haunted house.

More flats are are always welcome at GrAdv, Im just surprised some didn’t go to Dorney which has lost 3 in the past 5 years

The Wave Swinger and Eagles are also from SFA.

I literally just expressed this same sentiment on another site. The great minds behind SF never disappoint me. As others have speculated elsewhere, I too don't see them retheming any DC Comic rides, as some have called out the placement of Superman. But hey, he's been chilling at the Boardwalk for ages, and so too the Joker in Frontier Adventure? ATP, let's just call it Six Flags DC Universe - NJ

The addition is a great way to inject life into SFGAd but I do find the idea of a boardwalk not connected to a waterway odd. Is the lake by the park unclean or swampy that there’s a total disconnect between it and the park?

It mostly looks lovely - I don't think I'd swim in it, but it's scenic enough. Mostly it's cut off from the pathways in the park and/or hidden by trees. The best views of the lake are from Nitro or the log flume.

I believe it’s semi protected now more then when they did stuff in it in the 70s. Though one of the ramps is still in it and used for the 4th fireworks. Other than the log flume, and canal/lake that connects from the log flume, to the mine train and runs along El Toro, the park ignores it scenically.

Which is crazy because it helps GrAdv feel different than most other legacy SF parks. I guess SFNE is next to a river, but only Supes uses that to its advantage.

The new area is going to be nice when its done. Really impressed how cleaned up the park is.

This park needs better themed areas.

However, a boardwalk with no water, 90 min from the real boardwalk with the real ocean is an •interesting• choice.

The names of the rides are outright lazy. It’s apparent they have no marketing department left.

I agree that their actual lakefront is a total waste of scenic space thevway it isnt utilized

I was there for all 3 days. The park was very clean.

This area where they are working is going to be a boost and Project Purple/2027 whichever you wanted to call it is going up fast. Most of us on Sunday were hoping the next track piece would go up as it's probably the start of the rumored inverted launch with as many supports they have on the last area erected.

The park had a good vibe with lots talking about the "new" rides and the show seemed to keep a constant crowd at that stage. Saturdays weather might have driven that on that day but Sunday was nice and it still had a crowd.

Nitro being an eyesore for it's 25th is a sham. Even the remnant of Rotting Lumber under El Toro got paint but poor Nitro sits there faded paint with a new D train. Not that I ever see them running more than 3.

El Toro as the day went on each day got more and more like the opening year El Toro. Not quite perfect but well enough to make it definitely able to be ridden more than one lap a day.

As for the flats going to GAdv instead of Dorney. GAdv was pillaged for flats also over the last few off seasons. Both parks need the love but GAdv moreso as most of the GP goes to Dorney for the waterpark.

The issue with moving the Boardwalk near the lake would be that would make the park more Cedar Fair ish as there would be no shade. I like that area in the summer to walk and get a break from the sun.
