I seem to remember that as well. Not sure when or why the idea was scrapped.
The developers tried to keep some references to the park. The main street at VC Park at Geauga Lake (the apartments) is called Double Loop Drive. The road that connects Route 43 with Depot Road is Big Dipper Road. One of the streets in the development at the old Sea World area is called Dipper Lane. The apartments along with the Meijer is called The Geauga Lake District. All of the signage uses to old style Geauga Lake Logo and font. And I believe there is a historical marker in the apartment development.
FWIW.
The streets named after coasters and rides are cool, but my favorite is the street named after Leigh Woodall.
Leigh started out as a seasonal associate at Seaworld Ohio. He went full time and stayed on during the Six Flags era and the entire Cedar Fair era from both parks to waterpark. After Wildwater Kingdom closed he continued to stay on and was the last Cedar Fair employee at the property, managing security once everything was closed. He operated a training center for K9 first responder training on the vacant property until Cedar Fair sold it. He was hired by the new property owners to continue overseeing security on the property and now works with the City of Aurora as a consultant to the new city park being built on the Seaworld/WWK side.
He's a good guy who did everything he could to preserve as much history as possible when the different parks changed identities and then closed.

And of course Double Loop Drive basically goes in a straight line, and based on the topography I'm guessing there are no dips in Big Dipper Road. In ten years nobody is going to understand these street names.
