From the press release:

Universal Orlando Resort is revving up for its next big thrill with Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift – a high-octane outdoor roller coaster that will join the Universal Studios Florida family in 2027.

Replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will put guests in the driver seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious universe like never before. Riders will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers – including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will join an award-winning collection of coaster experiences at Universal Orlando Resort and is another exciting example of the incredible growth, momentum and world-class innovation of Universal Destinations & Experiences. Universal Studios Hollywood will also debut its own, one-of-a-kind Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift outdoor roller coaster later this year.

As Universal Studios Florida makes way for this exciting new experience, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027.

Were the cars shaped like golf carts?

The oversized MAGA flags on the back presented issues.

Man, have I got some bad news: Disney's Hollywood Studios isn't, in fact, in Hollywood.

It's called MGM and I'll die on that hill.

Amazon might have something to say about that since they now own MGM.

Studios is/was also mostly themed to Hollywood.

I find it silly USH finally got a new coaster with a name perfect for its location, and then after years of build up, Uni undercuts it by opening a coaster with the same name, and a different layout, in central Florida in the NY section of the park.

Esp considering Ghostbusters and BTTF were in the running possibly as well.

Fast and Furious is a more relevant franchise to the under 30 crowd than Ghostbusters and BTTF. It is what it is.

I would ask that someone show their work on that claim too. I never heard anything other than Fast and Furious.

Undercuts, what, exactly?

  1. That USH finally got a coaster….
  2. That it was unique within all Uni parks, and its name worked with the parks location and that it literally flew over the escalators and soundstages that are real, unlike USF.

USH already because of space and etc has a half baked Nintendo and Potter section, diluting its only unique new ride in decades by building another in Orlando seems counterintuitive.

I'd bet Real Money that approximately no one anywhere near Los Angeles cares that there is a roller coaster with the same name being built in Orlando.

The Venn diagram is 2 independent circles.

I get that, but I also bet USH has more non local visits than say Knotts or DL.

I just find it interesting Epic just landed Uni there best quarter ever, and obviously they are fixing alot of things at the studio parks, but overall cohesively and layout wise they are still a mess. Esp compared to the best of their recent work,

I figured after Beijing and Epic they would get serious about updating IOA, and the Studio parks, obviously the rest of Lost Continent is finally happening.

The IP hodge podge that is USH and USF could use the same approach as Bejing to get a bit better. But the parks still have Simpsons lands when many Dreamworks animated franchises more relevant and popular, and not owned by Disney. (Obv they added DW land at USF but its a rethemed Playground) And a outdated MIB ride taking up it’s own land.

Basically I just want new Universal Creative to fix the old Universal Creative deeper then rides.

I don’t know how much I’d spend there or why? The star of the show is Mr Potter and Friends, and people go there to go just there and they stay all day. I’m not wrong, I know those people. The parks are no slouch, and I’d be embarrassed to complain about them. For sure layouts aren’t changing.

You think Universal Hollywood has more non-local visits than Disneyland?

Disneyland.

The second most-visited theme park in the world. That Disneyland. Seriously?
