From the highway, the park hardly stands out. No towering roller coasters, jumbo water slides or smiling cartoon mascots herald its presence on 40 acres of pastureland four miles north of Wichita. Yet with the opening in May of its rough-hewn gateposts, Wild West World realizes its founder’s dream: bringing the first large-scale amusement park to Kansas.
