As announced at the ACE Western Pennsylvania region's CoasterBash event, Kennywood is removing the Steel Phantom. Mary Lou Rosemeyer, Kennywood's PR rep, made the announcement. No specific reasons were given as to why the coaster will be removed. Expectations are high that something worthwhile will occupy that space in 2001.
On a lighter note, Garfield the cat of comic strip fame will now be gracing the park and merchandise of Kennywood.
