South Dakota doesn't want to administer ride inspections

Anyone operating carnival rides in South Dakota has to have them inspected at least once a year, but they won't have to file inspection reports with the state under a proposal headed to Pierre. A 2014 state law requires annual, independent inspections of amusement rides, and that copies of those reports be filed with state and local government and whomever hired the carnival. State officials realized a hitch this summer after a carnival operator made multiple calls trying to find out where to submit the information to the state.
