Six Flags Over Texas opens for 40th anniversary season as Titan construction continues

Six Flags Over Texas' opening day was great from start to finish. Early morning festivities included speeches from park GM Steve Calloway, the present and past mayors of Arlington, and even Angus Wynne's son.

The new entrance plaza was dedicated first. Other improvements to the park include new paint almost everywhere, a new chime on the clock tower, new seat backs for the Texas Giant, revamped Mine Train trains, and of course, Titan.

Titan's first element not found on Goliath, the extra helix, is rising into the sky. The first run will be through the supports, where the track will then rise on top of the supports and onto the brakes. It looks fantastic!

The first drop is also almost finished. The final supports have been added for the last two or three pieces into the tunnel, which now has its concrete walls. The station is coming along nicely and the park expects the ride to open "this spring" but experts have said April.

If you'd like to see about 50 photos (25 from the festivities and 25 from Titan) be sure to check them out at SFoT CoasterNet.
