French-Canadian newspaper Le Droit reported Thursday that the City of Montreal, Quebec, is closer to closing a deal to lease its La Ronde amusement park to Six Flags, Inc., pending talks with the local labor unions. According to the story, Park Astérix of France, Cedar Fair and Paramount Parks were also considering the property for acquisition.

The deal cut with Six Flags will lease the property for a minimum of 40 years at the bargain basement rental rate of CDN $2 million per year. The leasee must also agree to spend $75 million CDN ($48.4 million USD) in capital improvement over the next three years, as well as build a hotel and spend another $25 million CDN ($16.1 million USD) to repair existing rides and real estate.
