The Congo River Expedition, which opened Memorial Day weekend, is part of the park's 30th anniversary celebration. The multisensory jungle adventure is filled with special effects, a slew of animatronic creatures and a few surprises. The new ride, which is in the original section of Schlitterbahn, is an elaborate renovation of a previous ride, also called Congo River, says Jeffrey Siebert, the park's director of communications.
