The amusement industry is heavily regulated, and the number of incidents and injuries reported at amusement parks across New Jersey has declined steadily over the past 10 years, according to state data obtained by NJ.com through an Open Public Records Act request. New Jersey now requires park operators to report any incident requiring more than the application of basic first aid. The state data show there have been 552 such "serious" incidents at New Jersey amusement parks and carnivals over the past five years.
