The $161-million plan to build Main Street America is the boldest idea for Crawford County since the U.S. military opened Camp Grayling in 1914. Some local officials and residents have embraced the park as the county struggles with high unemployment and low incomes. But others, who pledge to fight the proposal and point to the developer's failure with a similar plan in Indiana, say northern Michigan should be about nature.
