Philip Demers wanted to be the “Kanye West” of animal trainers, but never got the chance after Marineland rejected his idea, according to a statement of claim filed by the Niagara Falls theme park. A lawsuit to restrain inappropriate conduct in relation to employees, former employees and veterinarians of the marine-animal park was filed Tuesday at the St. Catharines courthouse. The allegations include a plot to steal Smooshi the walrus as well as trespassing on Marineland property and intimidating employees. The lawsuit also seeks $1.5 million in damages from Demers, a former employee turned outspoken critic of the tourist attraction.
