When Magic Mountain opened 35 years ago, the theme park was billed as a magnet for development in the cattle ranches and pastoral hills of northern Los Angeles County. But now, as Magic Mountain's owners talk about shutting it down and selling the 250 acres for development, residents are rallying to keep it around.
