Intamin sanctioned by federal judge for intimidation, frivolous suit

The defendant in the suit, Magnetar Technologies, alleged that Intamin was retaliating against Magnetar's president testified critically about Intamin's safety equipment in connection with the May 1999 incident in which a rider was thrown from the then-new Superman: Ride of Steel coaster. In addition to the improper purpose, the court found that Intamin threatened suit before either properly investigating the allegations or in fact being the assignee of the patent in suit.
