Holiday World’s new 1.2-mile roller coaster, The Voyage, will be featured on Good Morning America, the Fox News Channel and the National Geographic Channel over the next few days.
Producers from ABC’s Good Morning America confirmed this week they plan to include The Voyage in a segment about the nation’s “biggest and baddest” new coasters, scheduled to air during their Friday morning show.
Also on Friday, Chad Miller, one of The Gravity Group engineers who designed The Voyage for Holiday World, will appear on Fox News Channel’s popular “Fox Dayside” show, which airs at 12:00 noon CDT.
On Monday evening at 7:00 pm CDT, the National Geographic Channel will premiere a two-hour special called “SuperCoasters.” A production crew from the National Geographic Channel visited Holiday World last fall to shoot high-definition footage of construction of The Voyage for “SuperCoasters,” which will air again Monday at 9:00 pm and 11:00 pm CDT; The National Geographic Channel is available to 59 million homes nationwide.
The Voyage has also been featured recently in USA Today, FamilyFun magazine, and several national Associated Press newspaper articles. The Voyage will also be featured in an upcoming “Building the Biggest: Coasters” special on The Discovery Channel; a U.S. air-date for this internationally produced program has not yet been announced.
The Voyage, which is part of Holiday World’s new Thanksgiving-themed section, features three drops of more than 100 feet, with the first drop’s angle of descent a steep 66 degrees. The Voyage sets a new world record for the amount of “air-time” experienced by riders on a wooden coaster, a total of 24.2 seconds. The top speed of the three-train coaster is 67.4 miles per hour; The Voyage also includes a record five underground tunnels and three sections of 90-degree banked track.
