A traveling carnival in North Austin is closed after a 9-year-old girl died on one of the rides. Monday evening, Austin police investigators were at the carnival site near Cameron Road and U.S. Highway 290 looking at the ride known as Sizzler. Police said Fatima Cervantes, 9, suffered major head trauma after falling off around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. She was taken to Children's Hospital where she later died.
