Former Disney World monorail operators say series of failures likely led to crash

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Former monorail employees interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel say three key people are involved whenever a train is being switched from one track to another: the pilot; a "monorail central" coordinator, who oversees the entire system from the Transportation and Ticket Center near the Magic Kingdom parking lot; and a worker in the monorail's maintenance bay, behind the Magic Kingdom, who activates track switches. Failed communication by any of them could have contributed to the accident.
