Dreamland needs £12 million to reopen, still short

An announcement is expected this week on whether plans to reopen Margate’s Dreamland as a heritage fun park have been given more Government money. Ben Bradshaw, secretary for culture, media and sport, was due to make the decision whether to give Dreamland £4 million from the Sea Change scheme, which has already given money for the project to the Margate Renewal Partnership. The only money confirmed for the site so far is £75,000 from Thanet council and £4 million from the Margate Town Centre Regeneration Company, which owns the land Dreamland stands on. In total just over £12 million is required to get the park and cinema up and running.
