David Mandt named VP of Communications for IAAPA

David Mandt, long-time communications professional in the amusement park and attractions industry, will join IAAPA as vice president of communications November 1. IAAPA is pleased to welcome this 25-year veteran in the fields of communications, public relations, and marketing within the attractions and entertainment industries.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina, Mandt’s career in public relations began as a seasonal employee Carowinds theme park in Charlotte, N.C. He moved on within the park as manager of public relations and director of marketing. In addition to his work at Carowinds, Mandt also held positions at Kings Island near Cincinnati, Ohio as well as at Paramount Parks’ corporate offices where he most recently held the post of vice president of advertising and corporate communications.

In addition to his long professional history with Paramount Parks, Mandt also served as director of marketing for the $70 million “Star Trek: The Experience” at the Las Vegas Hilton and manager of communications at Kings Entertainment Company in Charlotte.

Mandt has experience as an active member of IAAPA, having served terms on IAAPA’s Marketing and Communications committees as well as acting as a speaker at the IAAPA Attractions Expo Annual Conference and Tradeshow.

Mandt is a member of the Public Relations Society of America and served on boards and committees for the State of Ohio Department of Tourism, the Children’s Miracle Network and the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce.
