The Metroparks commissioners on Thursday approved the carousel project, which is expected to open in 2014 and cost about $2 million. That price tag is small by the standards of capital projects at the zoo. It will be the first project completely underwritten by the Cleveland Zoological Society, a separate, private-nonprofit that exists to support the zoo and aid in fundraising.
