Carowinds demonstrates differences in ride inspection policies between states

The sprawling Carowinds amusement park straddles the state line, with a two-third of the 38 rides in South Carolina. One ride, the Thunder Road wooden coaster, crosses the state line. Carowinds water park is in North Carolina. Annual inspections of the rides are done by inspectors from each state before the park opens in April. Carowinds safety officials inspect the rides each day.
