It appears that Americana Amusement Park, located just south of Middletown, Ohio, may not reopen. Local media have reported that the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the state agency that regulates amusement ride operators in Ohio, has not received any permit applications from Americana Amusement Park for the 2001 summer season. This adds to the speculation that Jerry Couch, the current owner of the park, may never re-open the historic park. Jerry Couch says a public announcement will be forthcoming as to the staus of the park.
Jerry Couch, a local businessman, purchased Americana in Jamuary of 2001 from the Coney Island group that permanently closed the park in 2000.
