As if things weren't already bad enough with the death at Lake Compounce, riders of Zoomerang, a Vekoma Boomerang, were stuck in the cobra roll. Judging by the report, it appears that one does not have the retrofitted walkway along the cobra roll.
Read about it from the Hartford Courant.
I thought they were all retrofitted with the catwalk on the roll. I guess this one wasn't.
Still, I agree with Camel@Work, this is really a non-event. What makes it interesting that is that so many Boomerangs have rolled back like this, all within a couple of weeks time. That, my friends, is weird. Shame it had to happen at this park, where they don't need any more attention right now.

Genuine Cynic, what atlas are you using when you say that Lake Compounce is near Washington? Yes they are both in the east, but 7-7 1/2 hrs apart by car. Maybe where you are from that's just down the road apiece.......but in my book that's a hell of a car ride
Markey is probably thinking he has won a war or something!

RE: VEKOMA BOOMERANG ROLLERCOASTERS
The recent spate of trains stalling in the boomerang may be the reason that my homepark has just made the decision to remove a carriage from the train. Then again it could be completely unrelated. Does anyone have any ideas why enginerring would decide to remove a carriage from the train. Reducing the seven carriage train to six.
I would think that a longer train has its pros and cons. On one hand, a longer train might make an inversion, where the front of the train will help pull the rest along at a certain point. On the other hand, the reverse might be true as well.

What the heck is going on? These boomers have been around a long time and they never screwed up this much. What is the sudden problem? Could earth's gravitational pull be changing or something? I just don't get how boomerangs can run okay for so long and now one vallies every week. Maybe there is a new chemical in the air that is frying boomerang computers. This is so weird.

Well, so many incidents have happened with these boomerangs, I am surprised that other parks haven't closed theirs already. A shorter train can work as well as a longer train.
You ever wonder if Amusement parks just make accidents to get a hiype about stuff?

I also think that these boomerang coasters have valleyed as much as they have recently. But because of the recent attack on theme parks by the media, it's like ALL of the times it happens it's reported when in fact it's a common occurance

there sure are alote of problems with bommerange coasters lately
The Boomerang at Worlds of Fun has alot of chain lift problems, with the "bob" that takes the train up to the top of the lift. on time and oil cap blew and that closed the ride down for the rest of the day. But there are over 40 of them so most likely they will break down around the same time because they were built around that same time period.
