Central Amusements International is one of 11 companies that have submitted proposals to "reinvent" the historic Rye Playland Amusement Park. CAI is the park operations affiliate of Zamperla Inc., which spent nearly $30 million last year to lease and operate Luna Park in New York's Coney Island.

I really like this idea, plus, there are already maybe a half-dozen Zamperla rides on the grounds of Playland anyways. Including a Flying Coaster and Mouse.
There's a brilliance to Zamperla doing this. I think there's a finite market for their rides, so spin off a subsidiary that manages properties, which in turn invests in buying their rides. They've created a new market for themselves.

Not only that Jeff, but the park(s) also can act as a sort of real world place that other parks can come to and check out the Zamperla rides that they don't already have. I can see this being nothing but win for Zamperla.
And what better way to market rides (especially new ones like at Coney) than to have them operating with actual patrons riding them and reviewing them.
Not to mention that prospective buyers don't have to go to Europe or wait for the IAAPA Trade show to kick the tires......
I'm a bit torn by this news. For Zamperla this is am amazing thing. Rye has a lot of land to work with and would allow then to showcase more rides. They have done some good things with coney.
On the other hand dose Southern NY really need a 3rd Zamperla show room. A park is at it's best with a variety of rides. Is that really going to happen with Zaperla at the helm.

Fantastic idea, though I doubt you will see it happen in Zamperla gets control.
Why are you so down on Zamperla taking over? This park isn't really serving the same area that Coney does, and Zamp has plenty of rides to populate it with. Which is not to say that they'll go in and get rid of what's there anyways.
I'd much rather see Zamperla, who thus far has done a good job of turning Coney around it would seem, get this park than someone who will rip most of the rides out or worse.
