Your Preference in Your Parks

Just out of curiosity, how many players out there really play to their personal preference, when it doesn't affect how the park operates or what it's value is? Let me explain... First of all, this isn't about using trainers or anything, this is honestly playing a scenario. For me, I hate how the path looks if you're building it above the ground (on the scaffolding looking stuff), so whenever possible I will mold it to the land, even cutting into the land and so forth to make it look better. I'll do the same with flat rides -- change the land to accommodate the appropriate number of squares, rather than have it up on stilts. None of this affects park value/ratings that I've noticed, just money because of course you have to pay to restructure the land and all. Anyone else do this so that their parks look better to their eyes, regardless of what the score says?

Yes I do that too. If a flat ride is on "stilts" it is very hard in some cases to make a path leading from its entrance and exit to connect to the path that flows throughout the park. Rides on stilts are a pain in the butt and I always try to incorporate a ride with the landscape. Flattening out the land and then putting a ride on top of the flat land is many times better than putting a ride on "stilts" and trying to make a path for the GP to get to the ride. I agree, it also looks better on the eyes.

let's just say I ALWAYS have a bench every 3rd sqaure.
wait... there's 4 squares without a bench!

Well, i use whatever is cheaper. Rather spend park revenue on rides, food etc.
Also i plant trees along my midways and rides that are on stilts.
I do that too. I usually put benches every other square. In the squares between the benches I put a garbage bin every five squares. I make sure every square of path is covered by handymen and securety guards. When I build flat rides they have to be on flat land. I just can't the stand the way it looks any other way.

I got sick of the scenarios about a year ago, so I just build giant parks with trainers now. So basically, I build them how I want to build them. I always make sure a coaster is not on the ground (unless the station is partly or fully underground), because they're not like that in real life. When's the last coaster you saw with the station at ground level? Anyway, I just have fun with building.

I dont mind having flats on stilts. In fact some times I build like a gravitron really high up, then lower all the land under it and place a scrambled eggs under it. I'm usually ver space concious.

One thing that does irritate me are the non-consecutive paths. I like all my parks to be circles (or circles grafted on circles. If a park has an "out" path, I HAVE to put in a "back" path. I also like my parks to be "busy" so I put a lot of attractions together, and pretty much exhaust space before moving to a different area.

I'm very picky when it comes to RCT.

I, too like my paths to be on flat land, not on those ugly stilts. I also only like them to travel in a straight line, no wiggly-waggly paths that go every which direction (except for maybe queue-lines). I also like to have lots of hills, trees and flowers to give the park a "closed-in" feel to it. I like to make pretty entrances with themeing, fountains and whatever else makes it look good. I don't like cramped parks, I like to spread everything out evenly. I have a liking for lakes and ponds, too.

I'm also very picky when it comes to roller coasters. I hate using straight track, the most I will ever use is one piece of straight track, maybe two. I also don't like using minimal steepness except for lift hills. I don't live curved drops either because they look ugly. So, in turn, my coasters have a nice, clean-cut look to them. If a coaster doesn't look good, I'll simply delete it and start over, no matter how good of ratings it received.
Two years ago I took a flat piece of land and molded it into a Kennywood recreation so you know I have lots of landscaping differences. None of my coasters stations are at ground level, maybe the average is around 80 or so feet. So a coaster may be 200 ft tall according to the chart for that ride, but instead its 120

For instance on my largest woodie it goes down a moderatley sized first drop and then pulls out on the steep uphill section of track and then goes down its longest drop of the ride. Also on my hyper, the way I designed it is the fourth hill is a short climb followed by a plunge into a mini ravine allowing that drop to be equal to the third drop's length

Unfortunately, with out using trainers (which I do not do), sometimes you are locked into playing according to scenario and value (at least until you meet the objective... then you are free to do what you like).

I am a perfectionist and I like things as realistic as possible. I hate the "Stilt" look too, and I like my coasters to look as realistic as they can... not 20 some inversions etc. Also, I like to keep my park's visually appealing... I do not like to pack them with wall to wall coasters and rides.

I guess that is one of the reasons why I am a little "disappointed" with one thing... not enough variety of flat rides and no kiddie rides or games. Oh well, it is a small price to pay. The other thing that irks me is the fact that the computer visitors are so stupid! They get "lost" when you have a "large" expanse of pavement. I like to make my main midways double width paths at least... however when I do this I keep getting messages that visitors are getting lost. Oh well.

I agree, I always like to have a "midway" soemwhere in my parks. Hoever they don't look right with single ride paths. Make them a little wider and they look better. I hate stilts. I hate in particular the wood looking stilts so I will use any of the other styles. I also hate the ride paths that look like dirt. Most parks I have ever been to had paved paths.

The layered paths don't really bother me.......except when you accidentally remove one that you can't even see and don't know it!! Such was the case at the exit of a go-cart ride where only 2 squares existed for over an hour. The result was nearly 600 peeps crammed in that space!!!!! Boy did they want to go home!
